Syzygy

Oh, the birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, and the sun is shining.  Summer is defintiley setting in, and with it comes longer days when we stay outside into the evening time enjoying every bit of sunshine we can until winter comes again to steal it away with its icy hand. 

With that said, in an effort to not try to occupy too much of your sunny time, we are going on a summer hiatus for our monthly open mic at Destinations Booksellers; although, we plan on returning strong in Autumn. 

We do not want to take away the opportunity to express yourself, though, through your poetry, music, or other performance and expressive arts, so our other two open mics will continue as scheduled.  Stop by on a warm summer evening to share your work while you grab an iced coffee or juice drink, or a cold beer or glass of wine. 

We also have two special open mics with featured performances by Donnie Darkhorse and other local favorites on May 28th at Perkfection Cafe in Jeffersonville and May 30th at Rachel's Cafe in Bloomington.  You can find more information and fliers on our home page or in our events section.  Hope to see you out there and perhaps at some of the outdoor summer events we have in the works.  Check back often and keep creating.

 Syzygy has adopted another open mic under its umbrella of events.  The weekly open mic, posted in Syzygy News on 3/26/2008, is now a Syzygy event.  This open mic is how open mics should be.  Poetry, music, performance art, experimental noise fusion, and comedy are among the diverse range of talents performed every Friday at our open mic in Bloomington.  The open mic is organized by Dennis Ray Powell, Jr., my long time poetic partner in crime.  Scroll down the news section or check out our Events page for more details.
